Information/Write-up

This album was a side project of Brian Doerner (better known as the drummer for the groups Saga, and Helix). It has some nice tracks, such as the "Body To Body," "Listen To Your Heart," and "Thunder Of Another Night."Originally known as Michael Fury (don't look for that name in the line-up), these Canadians released their first album while being in the process of changing some band members. Ex-Zon keyboard player and singer Howard Helm and ex-Helix drummer Brian Doerner joined founder members Myles Hunter, Rob Kennedy and Marty Jones and this creative quintet soon caught the attention of Chrysalis Records in New York. The original Michael Fury album was reworked and some new tracks were added. The result was called Affairs In Babylon (1985) and the band name was changed to Refugee. Preceded by the single Exiles In The Dark the band went on tour in Canada and the US and the reception was great, especially on the East Coast of Canada. Howard Helm: As the keyboard player for Refugee I immensely enjoyed the times of the first album. Whenever I listen to any of the live Refugee recordings (of which some are released now for the first time!), the passion and energy jumps out of the speakers at you. I hope all who listen to this recording feel some of that vitality and strength that made Refugee one of the great Canadian bands of the eighties. Refugee was indeed one of the better Canadian bands of that decade and went on to produce a second album Burning From The Inside Out for Polydor Records.

Myles Hunter: lead vocals, guitar
Martyn Jones: bass, vocals
Brian Doerner (Helix, Saga): drums
Howard Helm: keyboards, vocals
Rob Kennedy: lead guitar, vocals

Produced by Myles Hunter
