Information/Write-up

First signed to EMI UK & Red Leaf in the 60’s, engineer/producer GREG HAMBLETON has returned to his roots as a pop-folk performer with an album of his own songs entitled “Summer Songs”.

Many of Hambleton’s songs refer to stories and experiences from his own life. Written in a troubadour style the songs are about city living (“Toronto Fell In Love With You”), times in Toronto’s 60’s Yorkville scene (“Is This The Last Time” & “Shendah”), anthems and love songs (“Free The Land” & “I Still Love You”), a new version of his hit song first recorded by Madrigal in 1972 (“I Believe In Sunshine”) and “Red Leaves”, inspired by the Muskoka fall panorama.

The album was recorded in Hamilton, Ontario with Greg Hambleton on acoustic guitar and vocals with Victor Bateman on bass and featuring Julia Hambleton on clarinet. Greg engineered and/or produced successful recordings in the 60s and 70s by The Irish Rovers, Stampeders & Stompin' Tom Conners and his own artists on his Axe Records label such as Gary and Dave, Thundermug, Steel River, Rain and Major Hooples Boarding House.
