Information/Write-up

On June 27, as part of the Canadian Celtic Celebration at the Valhalla Inn, Olivia launched her first CD, “Playing in Traffic”. This project, produced by Pierre Schryer, is a compilation of original and traditional fiddle music, and has been in the works for a year. On the CD she is accompanied by one of her mentors, Canadian fiddle legend, Ashley MacIsaac. “I met Ashley a few years ago in Cape Breton. We quickly became friends and have kept in contact ever since. I can’t tell you how thrilled I was when he offered to record with me on my CD. It doesn’t get much better than that,” she laughs. Also featured on the recording is East Coast artist Brenda Stubbert, Pierre Schryer, members of the Kam Valley Fiddlers, and numerous local and Canadian musicians. Olivia performs tributes on the album for her late Uncle Lorne, and to her mentor Jerry Holland, who passed away last summer.
