Ariel Records was a Toronto-based Canadian independent label active from the late 1970s through the 1980s. Closely associated with songwriter, musician, and producer Timothy Chipman, the label issued releases by Darkstar, The Foxrun Band, Joey Barnett, Sierra Blue, The Play, Chimera, and Shadowdance Theatre.
The catalogue reflects a self-contained Toronto studio circle, with many of the same musicians, songs, and production connections appearing across different projects. Though modest in commercial reach, Ariel Records documented a distinctive run of independent Canadian rock, pop, AOR, and studio-based recordings outside the major-label system.
