Information/Write-up

Paying tribute to our Prairie Pioneers

"My Great Grandfather, John Jackson, was a blacksmith for the Lord Strathcona Horse in the Boer war. After he returned, he moved his family west to a homestead on the Alberta Prairies, where he continued his trade. Back then, he shod horses for only two dollars each! His sons, pictured with him below, all took their turns at blacksmithing and cowboying. Pioneering was hard work and you had to have grit to survive."
-Randy Hollar
