You are going to hear Rhythm and Blues the way I personally likes to pervert it. You won't hear any guitar solos or auto-tuned backing singers, just harmonica, beats de la bouche, singing, screaming, a little crooning, and some things I bang and rattle. This new album was recorded almost all live to tape in Chicago with Steve Albini engineering. It was the manager's idea to use him. I didn't really care who did it, as long as he or she got good sound and wouldn't butt in.
Son of Dave’s music is difficult to categorize but easy to love. Drawing from deep blues traditions, he fuses raw harmonica riffs with beatbox rhythms, creating a sound that’s simultaneously old and new. Influences from John Lee Hooker, Howlin’ Wolf, and early R&B mix seamlessly with elements of modern hip-hop, funk, and rock. His groundbreaking track Shake a Bone became a cult hit after its inclusion in Breaking Bad, cementing his reputation as a genre-defying artist.
