Information/Write-up
In tribute to the many people who have inspired him, Pacific Northwest pioneering electronic artist Gavin Froome returns with Underground Heroes, an album of understated yet stylish musical gems. Underground Heroes is infused with a diverse and cosmopolitan nature, accurately representing his native city Vancouver’s development as a leading international hub for music, design, and architecture. Well known for his sophisticated sound on previous releases ‘Post+Beam’ (2001) and Mobile Villager (1999), Gavin continues his growth as an artist with his most eclectic album yet. Ranging from stomping house to jazzy downtempo, its no wonder his tracks have been acclaimed by a wide variety of DJ’s from Carl Cox to Giles Peterson. ‘Underground Heroes’ has all of this, from ‘Boozy AM’, a jazzy groove that will be on XLR8R’s next Incite CD, as well as dance-floor house cuts like ‘Sunsets’, which was licensed as the first track on the D’Julz latest on-line mix project and will appear on the new Renaissance collection compiled by Sander Kleinenberg
Underground Heroes is an album for those who appreciate Jazzanova, St. Germain, Compost Records, and Ben Watt.
