Information/Write-up
Accomplished, internationally - acclaimed Yukon singer songwriters Kim Beggs (Streetcar Heart, Wanderer’s Paean, Blue Bones) and Natalie Edelson (Mayfly Days) join forces to collaborate in an exciting new duo called The Blue Warblers - inspired by the love of the rough and ready sounds of Appalachia, and their own deep-rooted existence in a frozen place.
Following up on the success of their first (2012) full-length recording “Pretty Good” The Blue Warblers deliver another heartfelt and intimate collection of original and traditional, sweet-and-savoury tunes with their signature silk-over-wool close harmonies. Infused with old-timey guitar, claw-hammer banjo, Skin ‘N’ Bone percussion and rich harmonies, The Blue Warblers duo is a celebration of the spirit of vocally-driven, old time music that highlights beautiful fractures in more than just the written word, but also in the vocal explorations of two campfire girls who have lived and grown in the Yukon for over twenty years. The Blue Warblers first record, Canadian Folk Music Award and Western Canadian Music Award -nominated “Pretty Good”, also received significant acclaim on Folk Roots radio charts and print media.
