Louis Lee was born in 1926 in Alingly, Saskatchewan and died in Penticton, British Columbia in 2004. He lived most of his life in British Columbia and was raised in Penticton. A true rolling stone :), he was a singer, guitar player performer and composer. He was metis and his grandfather was friends with the famous conservationist Grey Owl. Louis was divorced and had 3 children. The song is clearly autobiographical. Louis spent his last years in Okanagan Falls, B.C.
