Information/Write-up

Dolores Claman was one of Canada's greatest composers, but she only had a handful of these Canadisc Library albums ever cut. After attending The Juilliard School of Music, one of her first and worst jobs was playing piano in at a school in Queens to a bunch of "reluctant tots and ambitious mothers". She went on to write Canada's most recognizable song, "The Hockey Night in Canada Theme" in 1968 (orchestration by Jerry Toth). She also founded Quartet Productions with Howard Cable. She wrote the musical scores for "Klondike", "Mr. Scrooge", as well as thousands of jingles, including the theme songs for the Young Canada Games, Ontario Place and "A Place To Stand (Ontari-ari-ario)" for the Ontario Government in 1967; a few of her other jingles are featured on this rare Canadisc Library LP.
