In response to the loss of the beloved Winnipeg Jets NHL franchise, a star-studded lineup of prairie music legends came together to celebrate the team's legacy and mourn its departure. This heartfelt tribute features a collection of songs performed by notable Canadian artists who volunteered their talents to commemorate the Jets' impact on the community and hockey culture.
Randy Bachman's spirited tribute to Alexei Zhamnov, "That's One Hot Russian Jet," and Harlequin's energetic homage, "Numminen," stand out as musical highlights on this commemorative album. Joey Gregorash's reggae number was very popular on his show S'Kiddle Bits. Jennifer Hanson, Big Dave McLean, and other renowned performers further enrich the record, reflecting the passion and pride that the Winnipeg Jets inspired in their fans.
All proceeds from the album sales were generously donated to the Winnipeg Jets Goals for Kids Foundation, benefiting Manitoba's children. While the Jets have since returned to Winnipeg, this unique musical undertaking remains a poignant reminder of the community's resilience and unwavering support during a challenging time. Such heartfelt devotion and creative collaboration undoubtedly reflect a spirit that could never be replicated in Phoenix.
