Hey Robert,
To my knowledge, my uncle Gerry (Gerry Matte; it’s actually Jerry now) is the only surviving member of the band. I know Ray and Bobby Blow passed away, and I’m not too sure about Don. My dad Buzz Carate, passed away suddenly in 2006.
After the Wiggy Symphony, dad and Uncle Gerry joined a band called Junction in the Vancouver area. They toured across Canada and the band continued in various forms until the early 2000s. They were popular in the Lower Mainland of BC and performed covers. My Auntie Ginny and Uncle Lou (Normandeau), both of whom were with Junction, are now with a band called Damn Chandelier. I have my dad’s old band scrapbook and will check to see if there are any bits from his time with the Wiggies.
My dad wrote several original songs but they were never released or produced. Dad was also a visual artist and made sculptures/art pieces out of recycled items. Unfortunately, he passed away the week he had his first art show open in Whistler. I am grateful that we have dad’s bass, which he made and played for decades. I still remember the smell of the fiberglass he used to make it!
All the best,
Savannah
Good Evening, I saw your email linked to the Wiggy Symphony and wondered if you still had their 45 with The Chosen Life? Buzz Carate (bassist) was my dad and he had a writing credit on that song. Thank you kindly, Savannah
