Information/Write-up

A Canadian artist straight out of Toronto, with a contemporary sound to illustrate the essence of dance music to come .

V.L.A who has released a freestyle ballad titled ”we won’t let each other go” which was produced by Marc Pompeo. V.L.A being the first Toronto freestyle artist to release this bass-heavy slow jam pumps your heart to the beat of true love. Coincidentally enough, V.L.A is hailed as the “Timmy t” of “Toronto Freestyle”tm.

Many critics may say why release a ballad first instead of a fast track? Well, the answer is simple; V.L.A is different from all the other artists and is not a follower, but a leader and an innovator. V.L.A wanted to do something different as an artist launching his career at the beginning of 1994.

V.L.A ‘s second single again was produced by Marc Pompeo and is titled “I Gave My Heart” released on the compilation “freestyle is alive in 95” many consider this track a combination of euro, freestyle, Miami freestyle or dance; but to tell you the truth, its none of the above because Captain Records and V.L.A have officially titled it under the new category of “Toronto Freestyle”tm. This track coincidentally became V.L.A ‘s most popular underground freestyle track.

Hitting number one status in San Jose, Dallas, Detroit, Chicago, New Jersey, Philladelphia, El Paso, San Antonio, New York. These cities are now labeling V.L.A as possibly the next Stevie b!

Both “I gave my heart” and “we won’t let each other go “ were so successful that both these tracks were licensed to SPG’s music compilations “Freestyle’s Greatest Hits” volume 3 and 4.

V.L.A.’s third release “sweet little lady rocking your body” came under the banner name he used to go by which was Vincent V from the” Danceology “CD released in /96. This track in particular was produced by Steve Dell’Angelo with remixes courtesy of Marc Pompeo and Rick Rath with a superb trip hop version, edits also come courtesy from d.j. Joey D from Spinning Sound.”Sweet lil’ lady...”. Just as popular and successful as “I gave my heart” which earned V.L.A to grace the cover of DMA (dance music authority) magazine in November 1996 being the first ever Canadian freestyle /dance artist to be on the front cover of DMA.

V.L.A. became involved with the music industry when freestyle was it’s peak, was inspired by the likes of Noel and Stevie b to become a freestyle artist himself. His original name is Vince Vella, from which he derives the name V.L.A from his last name Vella. Even as the freestyle trend faded, V.L.A persisted in becoming a freestyle artist from the beginning of 1987 to the present.

Lookout for V.L.A’s new releases coming soon!
