Information/Write-up
Confusingly, these albums share the same cover. The original commercial version is on Ampersand 477-1602.
The second was a compilation for radio stations and was released on Ampersand 477-C100. It included Side A tracks from Sycamore Street Singers album on Ampersand 477-1602 and side B tracks from Side A of Johnny Cowell's album 'The Tender Loving Care ' on Ampersand 477-1601.
The radio station compilation included an insert with the following:
"Ampersand Records was formed by 590/CKEY, to produce quality Canadian recordings.
This LP features 12 of 24 selections from Ampersand's first two LP's. They are not "off the rack" selections from U.S. companies, but Canadian recordings of high artistic and technical quality, suitable for airplay on easy listening stations like CKEY -- anywhere in the world.
The singers, musicians, and technicians all perform here in Toronto, where this record was created, arranged, recorded and produced. In fact, most of the selections were also Canadian-written.
Executive producer for Ampersand was CKEY Program Manager Gene Kirby, and the station has underwritten all costs, including free distribution of copies to all radio stations in Canada."
