only single they ever cut prior to changing their name to the 49th Parallel. This extremely rare 45 compilation featured four up and coming Calgary groups including Jim Wheeler and the Spokes, The Stampeders, and The New Brands. Shortly thereafter, The Shades of Blond changed their name to the 49th Parallel and they released a bunch of singles on RCA Records, Venture/Maverick, and Barry as well as an LP on Venture/Maverick. They eventually formed Painter, Hammersmith, 451 Degrees, and Prototype.
