From the Canadian Artists collection. Mary exhibits the soul of Aretha, the softness of Diana and the smoothness of Dionne. Put these qualities into one powerful little package and you've got the sensationalism of Mary Saxton. (liner notes). Excellent soul LP by this obscure Canadian singer Mary Saxton, with obvious similarities to Aretha Franklin and Dionne Warwick. Almost all songs are originals my Mary or composer Mavis McAullay. Released on the Birchmount label as part of the Canadian Artists Collection. If you like female soul this is a top notch LP with lots of strong songs and solid instrumentation. Includes Mary’s massively in-demand ‘Losing Control’ (originally thought to be an LP only track and played as such). Only a handful of copies (5?) of ‘Losing Control’ on 45 have ever surfaced and each has changed hands for in excess of £1,000!
