Information/Write-up
Larry Lee and The Leesures had a few hits during the early '60's before the lead singer, Larry Lee Broderick, left to form a lounge band named Chelsea Wind. Lee, who according to this page died in 1996, later got into the music publishing biz, but I have no idea what became of the Leesures. This album's liner notes do at least provide us with their names:
"Larry Lee's career began in his home town, London, Ontario, singing and playing guitar on Saturday mornings over Radio Station CFPL. At the age of fifteen, he formed his first group - a western band. As the group became more proficient...Larry had the pleasure of working with the Everly Brothers, Johnny Cash and went on a tour with Marty Robbins. Larry...formed a nite club rock 'n roll act in the fall of 1959. Since then it's been a hard, steady climb and he has appeared at many of the top Canadian clubs.
'The Leesures have just got to be the greatest!', says Larry. He's right, too. Not just as tremendous musicians, but as down to earth nice guys. There's the great guitar stylings of John Dee; the driving drumming of Ray Fennell; the piano and organ doubling of Billy Diel; the swinging bass of Chuck Daniels and the latest addition of Andy Wilson on tenor sax. Larry Lee and the Leesures, working as a team, give everything they have as they swing from the first groove to the last. Consequently, this album contains twelve exciting reasons why you will enjoy Larry Lee and the Leesures.

"Just A Little Too Much" is an up-tempo rockabilly tune with a strong Buddy Holly influence, while "I Get So Lonely" and "I'm Gonna Love You Right" are slower, bluesier numbers. The cover of Jimmy Reed's "Come Love" is the highlight, with the band working up a smoky blues groove and some nice production work on the echoed fade-out at the end of the song.
