Information/Write-up

3rd release on London Records.

Formed in Winnipeg, Canada in 1964, the Jury became a popular pop rock band in Canada in the mid-60s. The band’s roots are traceable to a unit called the Chord U Roys, formed in Winnipeg in the late 50s and featuring lead guitarist Terry Kenny, vocalist Bruce Walker and drummer Ray Stockwell. After several name and personnel changes the band transformed into the Jury, including Kenny, Walker, Stockwell, bass player Roland Blaquiere and rhythm guitarist George Johns. They signed to London Records in Canada in 1965 and released their first single, ‘Until You Do’, a regional hit due to heavy local radio airplay. Further London singles increased their national publicity. Stockwell left the band in 1966 and was replaced by Kenny Hordichuk. During that year their fourth single, ‘Please Forget Her’, marked a switch to the Quality label and was issued in the USA on Port. After its failure to break into the US market the group disbanded.
