Information/Write-up
Liner notes:
Back in 1949 a young lad of 4½ stepped up to the microphone and sang with all the boyish sincerity he could muster: “I Want To Follow In Daddy’s Footsteps”. The song was written by STU DAVIS — and the young lad was Stu’s son DUANE.
Duane appeared on many of his “Daddy’s” radio programs and stage-shows and drew great raves from young and old alike. At that time the craze for young recording stars (eg: Jimmy Boyd) was at an all-time high and Stu had many offers to put his young son’s vocal stylings on wax. But Stu thought better of it and decided not to push the youngster into a recording career at such an early age to perhaps suffer the disillusionment and heartbreak of so many youngsters who became over-night “hits” — and just as suddenly became over-night “has-beens”.
That decision proved to be the correct decision because now — that same young lad is fast becoming a top radio, television and recording star in his own right — with a much more promising and lasting future. To be sure: DUANE DAVIS is following “IN DADDY’S FOOTSTEPS”. As well as being featured vocalist and instrumentalist each week on THE STU DAVIS SHOW seen on the CBC — TV Network — Duane has had his own weekly National Network radio show and has been featured prominently on the last four Stu Davis London albums.
In the wings is another young “Davis” waiting to enter the musical scene. He is Stu’s younger son DERRY — who at sixteen is an extremely talented guitarist. In the not-too-distant future Stu plans to introduce Derry to his TV and record audiences and it is conceivable that there will be two sons named Davis following successfully “IN DADDY’S FOOTSTEPS”.
On this latest Stu Davis album THE SOUND OF COUNTRY MUSIC you will hear some of the finest “harmony” in the country as performed by Stu Davis and his son Duane. They have collected a variety of songs to please any musical taste and we are certain their particular sound will be a welcome addition to your record library.
