Information/Write-up

Kelly Clark (1935-1995)
"Raised in St. Vital, he attended University of Manitoba’s School of Art from 1954 to 1958, won several prizes at Winnipeg shows, and received a Canada Council grant for travel in England in 1960. He returned to Winnipeg in 1963, refusing to exhibit at the Winnipeg Art Gallery as a matter of principle. He supported himself for some years in the 1960s as a folk singer, and made one record album with London Records. He later was graphics editor of Omphalos, Winnipeg’s underground newspaper and art director of Canadian Dimension magazine. He returned to painting in the mid-1970s, but never achieved popular success before his death from cancer."
