Information/Write-up

In 1980, Chevy Dirt marked their musical presence with the release of their eponymous album, a unique fusion of rock, new wave, and punk. At the helm were Steve Emslie, embodying the persona of "Chevy Dirt," and Dawn Guthrie, known as "Squirrely Strange." The journey began with their inaugural performance in Elliot Lake, Ontario, setting the stage for an eventful year filled with club dates across Ontario and Québec.

As their popularity soared, Chevy Dirt embarked on two tours to the east and one to the west, expanding their reach and captivating audiences along the way. Signed to Myles Cohen's Change Records label, the band crafted their self-titled debut, featuring a 3D front cover and liner. An innovative touch for its time, the album even included 3-D glasses, making it a pioneering release in Canada. This 3D album cover preceded Toronto's 'Girls Night Out' in 1983, solidifying Chevy Dirt's status as unique in the Canadian music scene.
