Information/Write-up

Bill Conti's Theme from 'THE TERRY FOX STORY' - 'TERRY FOX' is a Canadian legend, a young man who, while battling cancer, and on one artificial leg, attempted to run across Canada in order to raise money for the fight against this most insidious disease of all. He made it from Newfoundland to the Prairies and in that span of miles and pain, became a folk hero to everyone in the country. He was forced to give up when the cancer reached it's final stages. Terry died soon after, but his legacy continues on...and every year many thousands of people join The TERRY FOX Run. In the early 1980's his story was filmed, and BILL CONTI was brought in to write the score. (Conti composed the music for the ROCKY series, among many others). This is the first and only recording of the memorable theme. It is played by BILLY ANDRUSCO, a multi-talented musician and composer. Whether playing the keyboards, saxophone, accordion or whistling, Billy's versatility is a panorama of sensitivity, emotion and love. The orchestral arrangements are by JIM PIRIE and BOB HAHN. The album was recorded and mixed in Toronto, Canada. In addition to the rare TERRY FOX theme, the other selections include LATIN AFTERNOON (a haunting Andrusco composition that was a big M.O.R. radio favourite in the 1970's).
