Information/Write-up
Vocalist Susan Hamilton and keyboardist Francie Holdsworth-Hill first became friends during the time they were members of a band called Mantra. In 1982, the two started a duo of their own. After going through a long list of different band names, Adventures in Paradise turned out to be the one that finally took. In 1984, the duo released an independent debut single, "You'll Never Know." The group was working under the management of Doug Wong at the time. Soon Quality Records noticed the young band. The result was Adventures in Paradise's first full-length album It's Just a Matter of Time, released in 1985. For the team of friends, it wasn't a matter of time and the album turned out to be the last adventure for the duo of Hamilton and Holdsworth-Hill.
This Calgary duo formed in 1982 while members of the band Mantra. After changing the name of their duo practically every week they finally decided on Adventures In Paradise at the suggestion of manager Doug Wong. They received a boost to their career when 'Music Express' magazine photographer Dee Lippingwell met up with Wong and soon returned to Toronto with the band's independent single "You'll Never Know".
CFNY DJ and 'Music Express' columnist Liz Janik liked the record and aired it on her 'Independent Network' show which just happened to be caught by Quality Records A & R Rep Larry McCrae.
Their debut album, 'It's Just a Matter of Time', was released on Quality in 1985 and received nominal airplay in the prairies.
