Origin: Pittsfield, MA, USA - Montréal, Québec
Martin Martin is one of the more enigmatic Canadian songwriters/producers of the 60's. Born in Pittsfield, MA and beginning his career in the US under the name Marty Hill, he cut several 45's for US labels such as Columbia, Caprice, Atco, and Brunswick. He came back to his hometown of Montreal, Canada, where he began producing and writing a slew of singles, and cutting several of his own under his new moniker Martin Martin. His most successful of these was the 'Imagine' / 'Say Shalom' single, which saw release in Italy and Denmark, as well as the US and Canada. He also produced and wrote for the cult psych group Rings & Things.
Martin Martin (Marty Hillman) established Hillco Music & H-Bro Productions in 1961 and Trax Records in 1965. He served in The Israel Army in 1973 and was invited by the vice prime minister Yigal Yadin to stand with him at the announcement of The Israel/Egypt Peace-To-The-World press conference.
