Biography:
"Boogus" was the name of Louis Armstrong's first piano player in the nightclubs of New Orleans. The trio “Boogus” was formed by songwriter-performer Scott Cushnie as a warm-up band for the big-name performers imported by MacKenzie’s Cornerhouse during the Winter of 1973-4. The CBC Radio Variety show, “The Entertainers” featured “Boogus” in May, and Scott has recently been signed to the WEA group. An album is now in the works at the New York record plant.
Scott was long ago dubbed “Professor Piano” in response to his encyclopedic knowledge of music. He survived the early days of rock and roll and had more than a few stories to tell from his journey, including performing alongside many greats over his varied career. Musicians like Doug Riley, Robbie Robertson, Jimmy Reed, King Biscuit Boy, Ronnie Hawkins, Duane Allman and Aerosmith, just to name a few!
Scott loved to share his knowledge and love of music. While we weren’t able to complete our lessons’ series, a documentary on Scott’s amazing life is in the works.
