Lorraine Scott is an American/Canadian Singer/Songwriter born in Ohio, U.S.A and based in Toronto. Early recording success was mainly in the dance genre with Night Mover (Matra Records) and Hot For You, a Top 20 international hit. Her later credits include the release of two original CD albums “All talk” and “Tune Box“ garnering Scott four Juno (Canadian Grammy) nominations.
Scott has traveled extensively, not only promoting her own original material, but also singing background vocals for artists as diverse as the late Jeff Healey and reggae great Beres Hammond. Discovered by Tachyon Records (Japan) while touring with Beres, she recorded a reggae album as the La La La All Stars which led to a headlining tour of Japan (Sumfest).
Scott’s only theatre audition landed her on Broadway in Buddy-The Buddy Holly Story.
Lorraine was offered an opportunity to reimagine the Joni Mitchell classic, Big Yellow Taxi, for the compilation CD Back to the Garden. She has also been featured with other artists such as Bill King, Paul Grace and 4th Metric.
After taking a break from writing and studio to spend time with her own family, In 2014 Scott recorded an original R&B/Pop single “Days of rain” written by Anand Ramnanan and AB Perro, that acquired airplay on commercial AC radio internationally on rotation.
In 2017 Scott recorded “Higher” an original house dance tune, written by Anand Ramnanan and Al Kussin, which has garnered much airplay, especially in the Caribbean region.
Scott continues to be a staple for corporate events and is a mainstay in Motown revues.
