From the ashes of Vancouver’s One Fell Swoop project rose the icy, austere post punk sound of The Velveteens.

In 1986 the band recorded the EP Tall House under the guidance of legendary producer Dave Ogilvie (Skinny Puppy, Marilyn Manson, Nine Inch Nails) and featured saxophone icon Michael Blake on the track 'Tired of the Beat'. The EP and its highly divisive cover appeared on numerous college radio station Top Albums of the Year charts.

A video for the song 'Love as a Rule' was nominated for a West Coast Music award.

By 1992 the band consisted of Lechner, James, Leitao and Rice.

Lechner and James would go on to form the band Conrad.
