Biography:
Over the years Howie Smart has worked hard to develop himself as a well respected artist and musician in the reggae music scene. As a singer songwriter,arranger and produce, his major goal has always been to create a message that is positive. His first song, Walls of Babylonwas written in 1980, in support of the African Brothers and Sisters everywhere to develop Unity and Strength. His latest recording, entitled Live and Learn is a reminder to us all of what it truly takes to be successful in life. Clean hands, hearts and good minds. Over the years, Howie has been inspired by great singers like Gregory Isaac, Leroy Sibbles (The Heptones) and Leroy Smart. He constantly gets his creative inspiration from true life appearances. Even when relaxing and playing his guitar, Howie's a work thinking up lyrics to share with the world. Howie Smart enjoys all aspects of being an artist: the writing, producing, and arranging but it's performing for audiences that he loves the most. In his experiences, he's shared the stage with artistes like Leroy Sibbles, Freddy Mcgregor and Anthony Malvo. Today you can see him performing at a variety of events and award shows in places like Toronto, Chicago, Jamaica and New York. Recently, Howie Smart has been recognized with an award of merit for his musical contributions to the Canadian Reggae Music Industry in 1997. He's always creating music that will educate his audience on what's happening at the World which surrounds us.
