Insight
‘Good Ol’ Boys’ is a rock and roll song about car racing, and the A-side of the only known single by Black Magic, a Toronto singer who released it in 1984 on ZSP, the label of film composer and producer Paul Zaza. Black Magic wrote the song with Howard Strutt, and arranged it with Strutt and Dave Beatty. Steve Vaughan produced it at United Media Studios. The B-side, ‘Paper To Write On’, was recorded separately at Zaza Sound Productions, with Zaza producing and rearranging.
The sleeve comes in two versions, each with its own photo session: one shot by Joseph Ciancio, the other by Peter Remis. Both carry the same note of thanks to Kurt Glemser of Blue Flake Productions, singer Charity Brown, Dave Beatty and Howie Strutt, “without them this would have not been possible.”
