Information/Write-up
TO THE PEOPLE OF NEWFOUNDLAND
Over the past couple of years, The Whitehorse Band has been playing old-time favorites throughout this province. Unfortunately, we haven’t been able to play around the whole island. Thus, we hope that this album will reach all the people who haven’t had the chance to see us perform.
On this album, we have a collection of some original songs that we’ve heard within the past few years. The words of these artists prove Newfoundland has a considerable amount of local talent. It is these artists who make our playing more fun and enjoyable.
During the course of our travels, many people have commented on the fact that it’s good to see four young men playing traditional Newfoundland music. Our interest in this music is found in our upbringing, which we have our parents to thank for. It is good to know that our fellow Newfoundland heritage is alive. We are very proud to be a part of it.
Since The Whitehorse Band started performing, we have attempted to keep in touch with our audiences. It is the interest and strong support of our audiences that give us the desire to play and the initiative to record this album.
To all the people of Newfoundland, away or at home, we hope you all enjoy this album, and we would greatly appreciate any comments about our music.
-Percy H. Cutler (Manager/Whitehorse)
Since hearing The Whitehorse Band perform two years ago, I have seen great changes in the surrounding area. At that time, no one knew of The Whitehorse Band, but after their first booking at the Satellite Lounge on St. Patrick’s Day, 1984, they have gathered around them a loyal audience that has continuously supported them.
The Whitehorse Band has its own unique style and tends to attract capacity crowds wherever they perform.
I’m sure that when you listen to this, their first album, you will hear the superb sound that these four young talented guys can produce.
