Information/Write-up
Liner notes:
Possessing a dynamic combination of looks, talent, personality and showmanship, Terry Roberts, since entering the entertainment field, has rapidly moved forward toward stardom.
Born in Foam Lake, Saskatchewan, he was the fourth of seven children in a “Country Lovin’” family. There, his mother presented him with a guitar when he was eleven, a gift which made his youthful days in the West ultimately a rehearsal for coming east to conquer the glittering cities.
He arrived in Toronto in Spring ’60 and was immediately hired as a recording artist. His first release “Oh, Lonesome Me” soared up the charts. Overnight Terry Roberts was a leading attraction in Toronto Night Clubs, rubbing shoulders with C & W illuminaries, Stonewall Jackson, Leroy Van Dyke, Webb Pierce and the Collins Kids.
Television beckoned also: Roberts guested frequently on CTV’s fabulous COUNTRY MUSIC HALL and soon had his own show out of CKSO, Sudbury. The latter program ushered in a wealth of starring personal appearances which continue to this day.
An exceptionally talented arranger, Terry Roberts, is an inventive artist who constantly refines his style. He has penned many C & W standards, including “Let’s Talk It Over.”
“URGE FOR GOIN’” is Terry’s first Arc Album. It includes the hits LOVE OF THE COMMON PEOPLE, OH, LONESOME ME, STREETS OF BALTIMORE and many others. Enjoy it–the album is an introduction to a recording artist of distinction.
