Liner notes
Hey, hipsters and flipsters of many lands! We hope you dig this, our first world-wide record. We’ve been spreading sludgeabilly across Canada since 1982, and this internationally-released disc is our first chance to bring that boppin’ sound to you, wherever you are.
On Too Cool to Live, Too Smart To Die, we’ve borrowed bits of songs from Bo Diddley, Sam the Sham, Syndicate of Sound, Jimmy Reed, Link Wray, Sam & Dave, James Brown, Richard Berry, Coasters, Dr. Teeth, Carl Perkins, Who, Booker T, Rosco Gordon, Danny & the Juniors, Elvis Presley, Roy Orbison, Dale Hawkins, Duane Eddy, and others we’re too embarrassed to mention.
We chose these songs as a good cross-section of the basic sludgeabilly sound. We think it’s our evillest record yet, and we hope you dig it.
Thanks to Mike Chamberlain, Michelle Mayers, Peter Eicher, and everybody who’s given us a place to stay or a place to play.
