The Normand Hudon Collection
This collection features the album cover artwork of celebrated Montreal artist Normand Hudon, with 16 titles identified so far. Known for his vivid style and irreverent humour, Hudon brought a unique visual flair to Canadian records—often capturing the spirit of Montreal through playful caricature and expressive linework.
Born in 1929, Hudon studied at the École des Beaux-Arts in Montreal and later in Paris at the Académie Montmartre, where he crossed paths with legends like Picasso and Fernand Léger. A prolific painter and renowned caricaturist, his work graced the pages of La Presse and Le Devoir, and was exhibited widely in Quebec, across Canada, and internationally.
Hudon’s album covers are a distinct blend of fine art and satire—portraying everyday life, familiar faces, and the humour of his beloved city. He passed away in January 1997, but his legacy lives on through these remarkable works.
