Made in Igloolik was Artcirq’s second music album, recorded in Igloolik during the summer of 2010 with the participation of DJ Wivi, Alexis Bowles. Artcirq described the recording as shaped by the continuous summer daylight and a “modern folk flavour.” The album brings together members of the collective and their collaborators, including Derek Aqqiaruq, Celina Kalluk, Terry Uyarak, Joey Ammaq, Kikkukia, Guillaume I. Saladin and Félix Boisvert.
Its eleven tracks move between vocals, acoustic performance, electronic arrangements and collaborative pieces. The closing track, ‘Africa’, is performed by Kalabanté, reflecting Artcirq’s growing artistic connections beyond Nunavut. During 2010 the collective worked with the Guinean company Kalabanté through performances, workshops and an exchange that brought Kalabanté artists to Igloolik and later took Inuit artists to Guinea. Made in Igloolik was released commercially on February 1, 2012.
