Additional Information
The front cover describes the release as “Original Recordings - High Definition Mastering.”

The CD was assembled after original Haunted master tapes recorded at RCA Studio in Montreal were located. It contains the recovered master recordings together with alternate versions, unreleased material and home recordings.

Three versions of ‘1-2-5’ are included: a Johnny Monk vocal version, the original Bob Burgess version, and a later home-recorded version featuring Burgess, Allan Birmingham and Jurgen Peter.

‘Vapeur Mauve’ is the French-language adaptation of ‘Purple Haze’. ‘Purple Haze’ itself is included in an unreleased English-language version sung by Johnny Monk during the ‘Vapeur Mauve’ sessions. The release identifies ‘Vapeur Mauve’ as a francophone adaptation of the Hendrix song.

Liner Notes

THE HAUNTED reVISITED

Our very first Album that we released has now been dubbed « The Holy Grail of Garage Rock » by collectors and fans all over the world. Recently an un played copy was sold for $ 2,000 CDN on eBay. Almost every year, an other pirated copy of one of our records surfaced and claimed to be an « original » release. They all had one thing in common: All of them sounded terrible as they were copies of the old vinyl LP and none were sanctioned for release by us. One even snuck tracks of an other band on the CD.

After many years of searching, an old musician friend, Denis Pantis of Disques Merites in Montreal, located our original master tapes that we recorded at RCA Studio in Montreal and used to cut our very first LP.

This CD, THE HAUNTED reVISITED, contains all these master tracks in a quality never heard before and actually sounds better than the original LP.

Some back ground on the other bonus tracks included ;

1-2-5 is present in 3 different versions.

  1. Sung by J. Monk
  2. Sung by B.Burgess ( the original « dirty version » before we had to change verse #3).
  3. Sung by Bob Burgess during a visit at my house, recorded live on a 4 track Tape deck, with Al Birmingham and myself. ( and a case of beer :-) Our « rap » version !

Cry to Me done at the same time
(and an other case of beer :-))

Purple Haze unique and unreleased.
I had Monk sing an English-version for ourselves during the recording of Vapeur Mauve.

Mona recorded at Stereo Sound Studio in Montreal; was canned, as there were some timing errors.

Matilda a home recording. I was sure that one day the world would be ready for an other instrumental.

Somethin' Else a home recording of a song I grew up with during my school days.

Song Blue a home recording. A Ballad that just felt right.

After 5 a home recording of my song that was meant to follow 1-2-5
(get it? AFTER - 5)

Additional Jacket Notes

A special thanks to my old friend Johnny Dollard for stopping by with his guitar and voice during some of the home recordings, and to Denis Pantis with his very talented and helpful crew at Disques Merites. Now sit down, put on your ear phones, crank up the volume, and let us take you back to when Rock was really ROCK !!

Jurgen, (“The Haunted”)
