Stan Cayer and the Renegades - Port Alberni Teen Town Reunion

This live recording captures Stan Cayer performing with the original lineup of The Renegades at a Teen Town Reunion in Port Alberni, British Columbia, in April 2001. Recorded by longtime friend and bandmate Jim Rutherford, the performance marked a rare return to the stage for Cayer with the group he had originally joined in late 1960.

According to Rutherford, the band reunited for the event and rehearsed for several hours beforehand, revisiting material from their early days. Despite the passage of more than four decades, Cayer et al delivered a confident, spirited performance, reconnecting with the music that predated Cayer’s Nashville recordings, and revisiting songs drawn from the band’s original early-1960s repertoire.
The set included ‘Old Pipeliner’, ‘Tallahassee Lassie’, ‘One Night’, ‘The Girl of My Best Friend’, ‘Little Egypt’, ‘You Mostest Girl’, and ‘Say Mama’.
