Information/Write-up
Released January 21, 2022
Echoing the last three years of Vincent Roberge's life, a pivotal period marked by the acclaim of his first album La nuit est une panthère (2018), Crash is a recollection of harsh but necessary observations about love, friendships, success and all the loss of emotional control that follows. It's both the dream that turns into a nightmare and the yielding once the horizon clears.
Written while in quarantine after touring France in the winter of 2020, the highly-anticipated second album for Les Louanges revives the singer-songwriter's complex and unique sound, an organic mix of R&B, jazz and soul for which only he has the recipe. Armed with a voice that is poised, versatile and casual, Les Louanges delivers brilliant, exploratory pop music with his signature biting, languid groove.
While still on a musical quest as ambitious and inventive as ever, the story on Crash embodies the dizzying post-impact imbalance that the artist experienced after the big shake-up of the last three years. This period was partly marked by the destabilizing success of his debut album, followed by the sudden start of the pandemic.
