About This Title

Wayne Peters arrived in Victoria in 1969 and quickly became a fixture of the local country and folk scene. Known for his warm voice and steady guitar style, Peters went on to front Homebrew, a popular Victoria band that featured some of the city’s best musicians. Homebrew held residencies at venues like the Wee Ponderosa, Westwind, and Esquimalt Inn, making them a staple of Vancouver Island nightlife through the 1970s.

Peters later toured extensively with Canadian country star Ronnie Prophet, and in 2009 he was voted one of Victoria’s most influential country musicians.

My Lonely Woman, released on the obscure Silver Steed label, appears to be amongst his earliest recordings. Pressed in limited numbers, it captures Peters in the early stages of a career that would keep him active in Victoria’s country music community for decades.
