About This Title

Excerpts from the Kitimat and 100 Mile House Newspapers:
Rodeo Cowboy sings his song... Does anyone Remember "Marcia Kay?"
Ron West does, she's the woman he married twice, the woman he wrote a song about in 1976!! If West seems a bit rough around the edges he probably comes by it honest. West was raised on an indian Reservation and became a foot-loose horse Trainer and Bronco Rider.

For years he was a rodeo cowboy riding the ranges thru-out the province, hitting the towns, the women and the whiskey with a vengeance always with a guitar strung across his back! and a burning desire to make it to the top in his music!!

The voice is unique and versatile as it can be rough or mellow depending on the mood of the song. West groans with it, curses with it, cries with it, loves with it and hates with it. It is his unharassed asset.

He toured with Waylon Jennings and Roger Millers entourage's for a few years. West states those years were a blur for him as he became a heavy drinker and user of narcotics. He came back to Canada to get away from it all... a few years of clean living helped him get his life back together and he moved to Lac La Hache around 1973. He began singing and playing his own songs in local pubs and toured the province. He followed up his only hit "Marcia Kay" with his first album , "perfection" which was only given a limited run but sold out every copy... he continued rodeo'in until 1985...but rodeo'in was pretty rough on him. "I've broken 38 Bones and that ain't includin' the ones I broke twice" West said, who is on a disability pension and cannot work due to his injuries. He describes his music as a cross between country-country/blues and is entirely inspired by his own experiences.
