Information/Write-up
Shelter was a Canadian melodic hard rock and AOR band led by the creative duo of J.T. Batten (Jordan Batten) and Bob Lapointe. Formed in 1989, the band carved out a loyal following within the underground AOR community, evolving through several incarnations and releases that showcased their blend of soaring melodies, heartfelt lyrics, and polished production.
The band began as Shelter, releasing their self-titled debut album in 1991. This 8-song CD quickly became a favorite in the AOR underground scene, praised for its melodic sensibilities and timeless appeal. That same summer, their track "Don’t Let Go" reached the #1 spot on the Top 10 at 10 countdown on CHOM 97.7 FM in Montreal, solidifying the band's presence on the Canadian airwaves and marking a significant milestone in their early career.
