About This Title

Johnny Harlow, hailing from Lloydminster, Saskatchewan, made his way to Calgary in 1960. As a solo artist, he recorded two singles in 1965 on Arc Records before teaming up with Ray Griff to record three singles with Sparton Records in 1966-67.

It was noted at the time that "'Lets Take a Chance Tonight' sported an exciting Canadian cut arrangement. It could cause a stampede." 'Let's take a chance tonight' - This is an interesting debut outing for the Calgary Boy. Tony Dimaria has done a slick job with the arrangement and the artist's performance is good. It could have a chance. COULD."
-Sandy Gardiner Ottawa Journal, RPM, Vol 3, No. 13, May 24, 1965.

During the same time period, in 1966 he took on the role of lead singer for The S'quires, who had changed their name from The Esquires after Capitol Records sued them for using the same name as the Ottawa Esquires.
