About This Title

Evolving out of The Beavers, who issued a 45 on London in 1963, this Halifax, Nova Scotia, outfit cut some wild garage punkers. By their final 45 they'd veered off towards David Clayton-Thomas territory - heavy melodramatic macho-man pop. The 'A' sides to their first two 45s were later included on Nightmares From The Underworld, Vol. 1, That's My Girl has also resurfaced on Open Up Yer Door, Vol. 2 and Ball And Chain on The Garage Zone, Vol. 3. Give Me Lovin' was a massive Canadian hit, peaking at No. 11 on 25th October 1965. Both sides of their first two 45s can also be heard on The Great Scots.... Arrive! album, along with a series of previously unreleased recordings from 1965. The 1997 Sundazed album The Great Lost, Great Scots album includes both sides of their last three 45s and eight previously unreleased cuts, including covers of John Sebastian's On The Road Again, an excellent cover of Tucker-Mantz's I Ain't No Miracle Worker, renditions of Seals and Croft's I Can Do It Better, Goffin-King's Honey And Wine, Billy Vera's Lord, I'm So Lonely and the Spector-Pomus number What Am I To Do. The collection is rounded off by two band originals - an instrumental Someone That I Can't See and Don't You Believe Them. There is no duplication of material between this and The Great Scots.... Arrive! album so it's worth getting both! It seems the album they were working on from which much of the material on the Sundazed album was never released at the time because Dave Isner got drafted. Still, although they never made the big time they remain good friends. They all live in fairly close proximity to one another and have a big reunion every Labor day.
