This single was the last of Mahonin's singles as Canadian recording artist. Mahonin recalls, "When this came out I happened to be at a radio station in Toronto at the same time Lionel Ritchie released his own and very different version. Like - who knew??? The radio station had a showdown of the two love songs. I can't tell you how surreal it was to have people phone in and say they favoured your song - I mean it was just so humbling to even be compared to the likes of a writer like that - let alone win the showdown!" The single was an 'instant add' on most stations in the country with Mahonin by this time, earning his creds as a viable artist and writer. Though it was the last single he released as an artist, other artists covered songs of his catalogue in other countries such as Spain, Portugal, Belgium, South Africa to name a few.
