In 1980 Craig Ruhnke told RPM he had no interest in album concepts: "I just don't want to waste time writing esoteric album cuts." He said a music career was too short for that, and that singles kept the money coming in so he could keep making records. Eight years later, with United Artists and A&M behind him, he was still doing exactly that, on his own terms. He wrote, arranged and produced 'Dancin' at Midnight' himself, published it through his own Pinnacle Publishing, and released it on his own label.
