Information/Write-up

Revelation was a Vancouver-based soft rock band active in the early 1970s, blending melodic pop with gospel influences and reflective songwriting. Their only commercial release, “Another Day” b/w “Satisfied Mind”, was issued in 1973 on London Records (catalog number M‑17460), and distributed nationally.

The group featured:

Bob Dalrymple: lead vocals, guitar
Jim Woodyard: guitar, piano, banjo, vocals
Doug Robertson: bass, vocals
Dave Collier: probably played - co-writer of “Another Day”

The A-side, “Another Day,” was a polished ballad praised in RPM Weekly (Feb. 9, 1974) for its “soft gospel feel” and radio-ready professionalism. The B-side, “Satisfied Mind,” was a cover of the well-known country standard by Joe “Red” Hayes and Jack Rhodes. The single was produced by Bob Brooks at Creative Productions in Vancouver and received airplay on stations including CKRC Winnipeg and CKDA Victoria.

While Revelation did not record again, members pursued individual projects. Jim Woodyard released Basement Suite in 1977, a folk-oriented solo album that marked a stylistic shift from Revelation’s spiritual leanings. Bob Dalrymple, by contrast, continued in a more faith-based direction, releasing at least four gospel-oriented solo albums throughout the 1970s, including How Are You This Morning. On that album, Dalrymple is credited with piano, bass, and guitar, in addition to vocals—showcasing his versatility as a songwriter and performer within the gospel genre.

Revelation’s lone single remains a rare document of early 1970s Vancouver studio pop, sitting at the crossroads of gospel warmth and MOR radio appeal.
