Information/Write-up

Sunday Wilde’s second album contains 10 NEW originals. She weaves the sound of vintage blues throughout, adding a touch of jazz on the edge. Wilde takes us with her, looking from a variety of perspectives and moods on this album, through joyfulness, sorrow, lost love, torment, and angst. As a songwriter who writes, as it is, without compromise, her lyrical style resonates with people from all walks of life. Her vocals capture the essence of what her w o r d s s p e a k , t r u t h , r a w p a s s i o n a t e , p o w e r f u l a n d b e a u t i f u l .

From thought provoking pieces such as “DON”T SIT AROUND WAITING” Sunday pleads to us, to get up and make things happen for ourselves. In the track “I GUESS I DIDN”T HEAR YOU RIGHT”, she revisits the 50’s era sound with a soulful piece about lost love. If you’ve ever lost love and who hasn't, this will definitely take you to that place in your heart. With the doomer bluesy piece called “TROUBLE COMING AT ME FROM BEHIND”, she reminds us of our own distressful times and that like herself we are not alone in that. “Johnson Avenue Scat”, co-written with Wolfe Wall, Sunday demonstrates her scatting with Wolfe's flute playing while bringing some levity to the listener.

The album features internationally renowned guitarist David West from Ecuador (Papa Duke Band) who plays a custom double sided guitar. As well Bass player Tom Sinkins (Bay Street Blues Band) and Wolfe Wall on flute, cello and clarinet. With Sunday wilde on vocals, and piano, as well as Sunday’s son Lucas performing his own piece.

Since its release in 2009, it has ranked #6 on the Roots Music Report in Canada, #1 on LURADIO for three weeks on the roots charts, #3 top Blues Album on CFBX in Kamloops and #12 on campus radio stations across Canada on the Roots charts, has been featured on Valentine’s Day Sampler put out by www.thealternateroot.com, received jazz awards at Garageband and playing on roots and blues stations worldwide.

Sunday has played with such great performers as Reno jack, Ronnie Hayward, Nick Moss and the Flipflops, Fathead, Terry Wilkins, and Little Miss Higgins and has graced large festival stages all the way to funeral parlours and coffee houses. She is a powerful and intense vocalist, and her delivery and songwriting ability make it abundantly clear that she speaks from experience. She has also recently been awarded TWO Ontario Arts Council grants for songwriting and recording.
