In this day of Garden Burgers and Bicycle Helmets, one often tends to neglect the more than one and a half century old friendship between Canada and the United States of America. Symbolized by a huge, unfortified border, it's unequivocally a lesson of peace to all nations. Nevertheless, the time is ripe for some good natured ruckus, specifically in the form of Clam Chowder and Ice v Big Macs and Bombers, a Canada vs America battle if there is one. (It’s a tradition that never dates to the flood, and this one's associated with the "almost" late Nineteenth-Century brings to mind the War of 1812. The quaint Remember the Pig War? "The War of 1812, take your clothes off! What?)
The U.S. and Canada have both casually viewed the Pig War as some kind of northern hemisphere satire with the "Oh No! National Unity Fears, Yeah, Yeah, we better save American Civilization" cries of some well meaning fellow at the Fresh U Club (who somehow snuck in the article this year, and was so nice we didn't say, like, too much. Um, er, thank you very much.)
Therein lies the real existential friction, tension-free yet eerily comic, minus the bad taste, bad Hollywood script, and ubiquitous symbolism of roller pressed network (Canadian spelling, please), burnt hamburgers & shopping sprees.
So what we have here is a musical reflection of that friendship, that border, that neighborhood. So go ahead, put the needle to your living room. Now go to your bed, to the bedroom, go, go, go, go! And go for the breakfast nook, shower, kitchen, canoe (may take some time — sorry) shed, woodpile, lean-to, or kayak. Cheers — Bye.
I now leave you alone. Screw it! Buy your own, make your own, THE INTERNATIONAL CLASH OF THE TITANS FRIENDLY BATTLE, so you can play your own music, your own freedom, guys, synthesize, rip apart, comment on, read, play, philosophize, remix, yell, tomahawk (no pun), play with the blues, and make sure the CD again plays.
Have a good Dam-Sim.
