Information/Write-up

Awesome Winnipeg, Manitoba Psych Punk! There were a number of bands calling themselves the Shags in the '60s, this group came from Winnipeg, Manitoba featuring Greg Leskiw's first band (Logan Avenue, Guess Who, Mood jga jga). Smiling Fenceposts is a great psychedelic song, written by Merritt & Steward. The group vocals remind us of The Strawberry Alarm Clock, and the song has a fantastic buzzing guitar break. The drumming is excellent as well. Dr. Feel-Good is more formulaic, but has another fine guitar solo. The singer's looking for women who weigh at least 400 pounds! It was written by someone named Smith, and is a different song from the Arethra Franklin tune.

Wes Nowosad founded Eagle Records, releasing records by Winnipeg groups including the Quid, Satan and the D Men, Good Feeling and the Shondels. He died on Dec. 4, 2006.

Both side were comped on Destination Frantic & Eagle Records Story.

Greg Leskiw: lead guitar, lead vocals
Stu Adams: rhythm guitar, vocals
Bill Merritt: bass
Andy Pastor: drums
John Lidgey: Keyboards (hammond)
