Rock Steady
We walked, ate very little, worked hard, and managed to get enough money together to try working in a studio. Big mistake. I didn't know enough to insist we have a real engineer, so apart from the first song which was done by someone who knew what they were doing, the rest of the album was a disaster. I got to be a guinea pig for Glenn, who ended up going on to work at Le Studio. I'm sure he did fine work up there, but I'm the one who paid for his training. You can get the gist of what I was trying to accomplish on my "Rock Steady" album.

BTW, one of the things I consistently found when I went into big studios is that I was training them on stuff like how to use time code, synchronize machines, etc. It would have been nice to have had some help on that myself, as I was continuing to learn. In the end, though, the album wasn't a complete waste. Tony Green heard it, and signed me up. But maybe that wasn't so great either...

Elyce co-wrote many of the songs on the album, and James Green, who was my bass player around this time, co-wrote, "Rock Steady".
