Information/Write-up

In Canada, 1967 is a year for making music . . . HAPPY MUSIC!

Perhaps no single Canadian is more commended to present his musical contribution to our 100th anniversary celebration than Canada’s most popular TV and recording star, Don Messer. In over 30 years, more than five million records have found their way into the homes of Canadians (and Americans) who cherish his music.

Don’s audience ranges far and wide to the very outposts of our great country, and his Centennial project is to meet and perform, in person, for as many of them as he can. During this summer, Don Messer and His Islanders, including Johnny Forrest, Marg Osburne and Charlie Chamberlain, are appearing in over fifty cities throughout the ten provinces, with stops at EXPO ’67, the C.N.E., and the Calgary Stampede.

In this album, he has recorded tunes by Canadian composers about Canada, from the “EXPO 67 JIG” to the “ALBERTA POLKA.” So settle back or celebrate, and join Don Messer in making our Centennial a really memorable occasion!
